Size

The most important thing one should consider before buying a microwave is the size of the microwave. The size of the microwave must meet the needs of the family members. If the family is big then the microwave must be equipped with lot of space to cook up the food quickly. If the family is small or the owner is a bachelor then an over spacious microwave will result into unnecessary power wastage. So size is the most important thing one should keep in mind before purchasing a microwave.

Power Consumption

The power used by the microwaves is the most important thing as it affects its efficiency directly. The higher the wattage consumed by the microwaves the higher the speed of cooking. Generally the power of microwaves ranges between 600 watts to 1200 watts. The recipes designed for microwave cooking can be cooked at 700 and 800 watts.

The oversized microwaves consume more power than required for convection so size and amount of food decides the watts required and rational usage of watts the power consumed can be reduced to minimal.

Type

The third most important factor you should keep in mind is the type of microwave you need. If you need to cook using your oven, you must buy a microwave with convection and oven. If you just need to put your cooked meal back at right temperature then you can manage without convection facility.
