netpalDisney and Asus is teaming up to launch a Disney Branded Netbook targeted at kids from 6 to 12. Called Netpal, the netbooks will sport ‘Princess Pink’ with florals and ‘Magic Blue’ with miniature Mickey Mouse embossed cases. The Disney designed UI is kid-friendly with Windows XP running as a base. The desktops have customizable themes on their famous animations of Cars, Toy Story, WALL-E and other themes like Mickey Mouse.

The device specifications are like Asus’s popular Eee PC Lineup with 8.9 inch display and Intel Atom Processors. The system weighs from 2.2 to 2.6 pounds and can be configured with a 16 GB SSD or a 160GB Hard Drive for more storage. It has Wi-Fi for internet access but no 3G cellular connection. The Magic Desktop’s gadget tray will have icons for Disney Browser, e-mail and parental controls such that kids can only open the websites and can correspond via e-mail to people approved by the parents. The Radio Disney Widget will stream music from the channel in real time. There are other widgets such as digital memo pad, calculator and stopwatch.
