HONOLULU - Arjun Atwal returned to the top league with a one-under 69 that placed him in the 24th place at the end of the first round of the Sony Open, the first full field event on the US PGA Tour.
Atwal, who played the Nationwide and finished in the top-25 to earn a berth back into the PGA Tour opened on the 10th tee parred the back nine before he bogeyed the first and fifth holes.
He shot a birdie on the third and then the seventh and again on the ninth to finish at one-under at the Waialae Country Club.
Daniel Chopra started with back-to-back bogeys but then recovered somewhat with a one-over 71 and was tied 51st. Chopra won the Mercedes Benz Championship last year.
