DiRT 2 Review
The Collin Mc Rae Series has been the ultimate name in the rally racing genre and with the launch of this Collin Mc Rae Dirt 2, the game shows its class from the moment the ‘press start’ screen pops up. Its slick in-game menu system, the neat loading screen info only shows you what a nice gaming experience is in store for you. From its first looks I was about to give it a 10 on 10 but I held myself before doing that and started to play it and after completing a few sessions I could give it no less than 9 marks. Here is the review.
DiRT 2 is about your racing career and experiences that you gather along the path to make yourself a pro driver. You start your career as a up-and-coming racer who’s competing on the off road circuit against pros such as Ken Block and Travis Pastrana. The AI opponents aren’t pushovers they will put up a believable fight from start and finish. But the vehicle handling and damages are forgiving.
There are flashbacks of the events which you can use to correct your mistakes while racing. While this may seem as a cheat, but you have only a limited number of flashbacks depending on your skill level. As the use of the flashbacks are at your discretion, you’d want to keep them till the end of the race. Actually this is very useful feature to use in those long ten lap games, as an error after eight perfect laps could ruin your game and you had to start all over again. Thanks to the flashback feature, you can now correct the mistake with the help of this feature.

You earn points as you get experiences from events and you can unlock new events in the way. Just perform well in rookie events and the way to the pro races will open up. There are various levels of skill that you can set for yourself which means that you can enjoy the game whether you are a beginner or a skilled hardcore gamer, there is material in store for you.
The Europe locations will be available to you earlier and as you start earning XP and level up you’ll open up new locations and events in Asia and America which are worth it because they have plenty of XP on offer.

The graphics of the game is really superb and there is rarely a drop in frame rate whether you play online or offline. The sense of speed is great, whether you’re racing through a jungle in Malaysia, across the Utah desert, the serene hillsides of China, on the streets of London, or inside a Los Angeles stadium. The game’s crash physics show accurate damage to every part of the car, making every wreck and bump feel unique.
However, I didn’t like the absence of the split screen multiplayer capability.

The sound atmosphere of the game is also very good. The tracks are trendy and the voices of the co-driver is realistic and very much appropriate.
At the end of the day it is a nice off road racer and driving fast is fun in it. The absence of split screen multiplayer mode was disappointing though the overall gaming experience is top notch. There are materials for the hardcore gamers as well as the novices which makes it a must buy for any gamer.
