finepixreal3dAkihabara News lately reviewed the latest FujiFilm 3D Imaging device, the FujiFilm FinePix Real 3D W1 and called it ‘The worst camera ever made’ which caused a ‘few raised eyebrows‘, as Engadget calls it. Even people at Fujifilm were moved and they invited the publication for a face-to-face meeting to address their points of disappointments.

However, I think that we should give some slack while reviewing a camera that is first of its kind. But Akihabara News did not have any pity on it and they ‘honestly’ called it a ‘crap’. Here are its specs if you haven’t already learned any details of the camera.

Fujifilm W1 Specification

  • 10.0 million pixels
  • 1/2.3-inch CCD x2 sensor
  • MPO+JPEG, MPO (Multi Picture Format compatible)
  • 3D-AVI (Stereo AVI format with 2 image channels)
  • 2D AVI format (Motion JPEG with sound)
  • Auto / Equivalent to 100 / 200 / 400 / 800 / 1600 (Standard Output Sensitivity)
  • Internal memory (Approx. 42MB) and SD/SDHC Memory Card

Of course, I like the move made by a major company like Fujifilm to address the issues at the beginning but I don’t think that this is going to be an industry-wide trend for other manufacturers. What do you think?

3D is one of those technologies that seem to blossom for a few years every now and then and then sink back into obscurity. So if you like the technology and want to create your own 3D images, jump on this little camera while it is still available. If you wait for version 2.0 it may never come.

I think you are not very well informed and a bloody ignorant … better let your hands from cameras, play Lego or dice instead
Just sit quite at your computer and don’t bore the world with your opinions.
