While other ebook readers from Sony, Barnes & Noble and other manufacturers are struggling to reach a decent sales figure, Kindle has become the bestseller in probably world’s biggest online retailer, Amazon.

Folks at Gizmodo has broken down the steps of churning out a bestseller.
Step 1: Market a device for two whole years
Step 2: Issue a price drop a few months before the holiday season
Step 3: Remain the exclusive retailer for said device
Step 4: Profit! (To an extent that is completely and intentionally unclear to everyone!)

Of course, these may be the ways to become the bestseller but I think that they are missing a crucial point. That is the Usability of Kindle. Yes, our computer screen can show us every type of book we want in it and we also have full control over the format and other factors. The common man’s iPhone also has a Kindle App and you can read a book on it too. But ask anyone, which is comfortable for reading? - Computer screen, iphone or Kindle? The answer is Kindle.

The constantly lit computer screen or your mobile phone’s display is too irritating and it is almost impossible to read hours on it without straining your eyes. Kindle, on the other hand, has no backlight and reading on it is the next best possible thing than actual paper book. This is why Kindle is now the bestselling product on Amazon.

And it happens to be that it is also very much suitable as a gift item and Amazon has recently dropped the price for it. All these reasons put together, there is no reason I can not put aside the Kindle as a marketing fad. So, should you buy Kindle this Christmas? Tell us.
