CUPERTINO (GaeaTimes.com)- Steve Jobs presented a plethora of software updates and also unveiled the spanking new MacBook Air on Wednesday which got loads of applauds from everyone. The MacBook Air is even smaller than the previous generation model and sports several enhancements that the users will love. The battery used in this model lasts up to 7 hours under normal usage and upto 30 days in stand by mode, claims the company. The laptop boots fast in 12 seconds. The MacBook Air comes in two screen sizes 11.1 inch and 13.3 inches. While some people may feel that packing in just 2GB of RAM may not be adequate, the laptop does not show any sluggishness in real world tests.

It would be wrong to assume that the laptop suffers in the performance department owing to its small footprint. The MacBook Air is powered by a fast Intel Core 2 Duo CPU that chugs along at 2.13 GHz. The 128GB SSD is adequate except for the demanding users. It has also got an NVIDIA chip that boosts the graphic performance. Surely this is not meant for gaming but moderate multimedia watch and HD playback can be performed without a hitch.
The new MacBook Air does not skimp on the features either. It also packs in Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi for seamless connectivity. As usual Apple has not supplied any optical drive with this model. Considering its thin and slim form factor, it is a welcome omission.
