netbook_notebookThe Netbook sales is about 20% among all notebook sales in Europe whereas it is about 16% globally. According to Christina Morales, Intel’s European Sales Chief, Netbook sales are almost a quarter of the total sales in Britain and Italy. But the sales may decrease as the ultra-thin laptops may come to an affordable range this year. “The market has not all lept over to netbooks” said Intel’s Marketing Chief, Sean Maloney and he also clarified that the Atom processor based netbooks are eating into low-end laptops based on Celeron.

Intel Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) chips will be based on higher performance Core 2 architecture and will appear in inexpensive laptops from this June.

These chips will offer stiff competition to the Netbooks which are priced above $400 because many CULV notebooks will be available in $599 to $799 price range.

We don’t know it these thin laptops will be popular or not but Intel surely hopes so.
