TEXAS (GaeaTimes.com)- MetroPCS the Texas based no contract carrier of USA has finally confirmed that it will launch the Samsung R900 as the Craft . The handset will be shipped with the LTE or Long Term Evolution rollout planned later in 2010. The phone has already made a buzz in the industry since it will be USA’s first 4G enabled handset. However, the carrier has not kept at high priced and the customers can bag this handset at the price of a 3G handset as it has been reported. The estimated street price of the model has been set at $300. The much touted LTE will be used for data transmission and for voice calling the phone will rely on the existing CDMA network of the company.

MetroPCS will launch the phone but the OS of the model is yet to be known. However it will be powered by a beefy Qualcomm processor and will have a Touchscreen enabled display as well. The imaging will be taken care of by a 3 MP camera. The MetroPCS CEO Roger Linquist said recently that the LTE network of the carrier will be made available in Dallas and Las Vegas first. However, he admitted that before 2011 all the areas covered by its network cannot be brought under the LTE spectrum and after that the customers will get the enhanced speed.

While MetroPCS is relatively small player compared to the leaders like Verizon and AT&T in the USA its 4G service may allow it to grab a larger share of the market. The Samsung Kraft would be its weapon in this regard.
