Microsoft’s Pink phone: Preview
Microsoft seems to re-venturing into the market of mobile phones. Microsoft was rendering a secret project since Android and Apple Inc.’s iPhone had captured a large share of Windows phone. Bingo! the secret is now open. Pink phone, reported as a secret project of Microsoft is officially out. The news of of its arrival was first leaked in September. Now Gizmodo has confirmed that the hidden Pink project led by Microsoft will be unveiled very soon.
Verizon, the largest wireless carrier of U.S. will be the launching partner for Pink. As the name suggests, Pink phone is mainly targeted at teenagers. Previously Pink was rumored to have codename ‘Turtle’ and ‘Pure’. But the third party advertisement revealed by Gizmodo, only talked about the former.
The much hyped Pink phone will be a hub for social networking. Like iPhone, it will have app store and app development would be similar to that we found in Zune HD.
Let’s see what are the predicted features of Pink phone.
Turtle’s screen has 320×240 resolution, while Pure has 480×320, almost same as the iPhone.
Pink phone appears as the evolution of the Sidekick. Turtle looks like a child version of a Palm Pre, while Pure seems like a standard slider. Moreover, both the models have a rounded shape with circular keys that adds softness to its look.
Pink phone is rumored to run Windows Mobile 7.0 OS. But at the first glance, Turtle doesn’t seem to have minimum hardware requirement to be part of Windows Phone 7 Series.
It is claimed to have 5 mega pixel camera.
With 720p HD video capabilities, Pink will be descent enough for video recording.
Though the news of arrival has been made confirmed, the launch date of Pink phone is yet to be declared by Microsoft. The release name for the product may be different since Pink is its codename.
