Olive Pad: India’s Answer To iPad

DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- There is no doubt that Apple’s mighty iPad is still ruling the roost in the Internet tablet segment and the contenders like Dell Streak and HP Slate have a long way to catch up. However, there is one device that has been released in the Indian market that is ready to lock horns with Apple’s flagship Internet tablet!. It is called Olive Pad VT 100 and the device is now available in India with a beefed up spec. Olive Telecom has announced that the device will be available at Croma stores at a cost of INR 25990. The 3.5G tablet now boasts of the latest Android 2.2 Froyo OS. The upgraded device now offers better JavaScript rendering, faster multitasking and USB tethering. It can also work as a Wi Fi hotspot.


The new Olive Pad VT 100 also comes with a 16GB external memory card and a leather carry wallet which is a boon for the users. Arun Khanna the Olive Telecom chairman said “With Olive Telecom being the first company to foray into the Indian tablet market, the upgraded Android 2.2 will allow enhanced experience to the tech-savvy generation thereby providing easy and on-the-move connectivity. With this, we are confident of creating a new benchmark in the convergence device arena and hope to sell approx. 1 lac tablets by 2011″. One can also buy the device at the web site of the company.

The Olive Pad has a plethora of features and it trounces the iPad in that department. There is a 3 MP camera with a front camera in it. It can also create MS Office documents a boon for corporate users. It can also be used as a smart phone.
