Samsung Pixon M8800 Vs LG Renoir KC910 : A Comparative Study
Samsung Pixon and LG Renoir are two great digital cameras in a mobile phone form factor. We reviewed Samsung Pixon and LG Renoir and found both of them to be close competitors with nearly the same design, features and same price range. Here is a comparison of these two phones to help you choose one. Have a look.
1. Design
Samsung Pixon M8800 : The device looks fairly simple. The whole of the front face is acquired by the touchscreen and the 8MP camera module sticks out of the body. It measures a common form factor of 107.9 x 54.6 x 13.8 mm and weighs just right at 121g. Overall, the mobile phone looks and feels like a perfect multifunctional model.
LG Renoir KC910 : It also looks quite the same with the whole front face covered by the touchscreen. The curved metallic reflective edges add a measure of attractiveness to the body. It measures 107.8 x 55.9 x 14 mm and weighs 114g. The extra buttons on the side are also very useful.
Conclusion : Though it is quite a subjective matter to decide which one looks better, we feel that the LG Renoir has some extra bit of elegance compared to Samsung Pixon though they look quite the same and it is very hard to even distinguish them from a distance.
2. Touchscreen Display
Samsung Pixon M8800 : The front face of the face is covered by its 3.2 inch touchscreen display. It has a QVGA resolution of 240 X 400 pixels and is capable to show 262K colors. It has a brightness sensor to adjust brightness of the display according to the ambient light. The resistive touchscreen has good sensitivity.
LG Renoir KC910 : It also has its full face covered by the touchscreen. The touchscreen measures 3 inches diagonal and is capable to show 240 X 400 pixels and 262K colors. It also has a resistive touchscreen and we have nothing to complain about its response.
Conclusion : The touchscreen and the display of both the devices are the same configuration-wise but we feel that the Samsung display is a bit better than the LG display because it has a better viewability in daylight.
3. Camera
Samsung Pixon M8800 : Specwise, the camera has a decent 8MP Sensor and have features like Autofocus and LED Flash. It also supports Geo-Tagging, Face Detection, Smile Detection with Eye Blink Detection. There is image stabilization and the photos have a wide dynamic range. It also has a unique feature called beauty shot which is supposed to remove the spots from your girlfriend’s face to look her more beautiful. It can shoot VGA Video at 30 fps and QVGA Video at 120fps.
Conclusion : Though both the camera modules are the best cameras of its class but still we think that LG has a better camera than the Samsung’s as it has a better Xenon Flash and better picture quality in most situations.

Samsung Pixon M8800 : The phone has loads of multimedia features and supports almost every format that you ask it to play. It have a 200MB internal memory and you can extend it by adding a 16GB Micro SD card which is enough to store all of your favorite music and videos. It also supports 16GB memory card to store all your favorite music and videos besides its 100MB internal memory. You can play back all common formats of audio and video and also formats such as DivX or Xvid.

Samsung Pixon M8800 : The device has a good interface interface seemes to be more tweaked to finger friendliness.
LG Renoir KC910 : The interface is very much similar to Viewty. The interface is very aesthically designed which looks very pleasant.
Conclusion : Samsung has a better overall interface with more features but they are perfectly arranged under menus and submenus which makes them easy to find. I will give Samsung a better score than LG in this case.
7. Overall
Samsung Pixon M8800 : This is a nice phone with standard feature feature set and above average camera.
LG Renoir KC910 : This phone is also a multimedia powerhouse with perhaps the best camera of its class.
Conclusion : The competition goes neck to neck and there is hardly a overall winner here but we would suggest you to go for LG Renoir as it wins the race by only an inch.
