Summary Box: Lexus recalls 3,800 LS sedans in US
THE RECALL: Toyota is recalling 3,800 Lexus LS sedans in the U.S. The announcement follows a recall in Japan of 4,500 LS models.
THE PROBLEM: The steering wheel on the LS 400 and 600h can briefly become out of alignment with the car’s wheels when it is turned to the extreme right or left and then re-centered. Toyota will remedy the problem by replacing the computer processor in the vehicle’s variable gear ratio steering system.
THE SALES: Toyota has sold about 4,000 LS sedans in the U.S. so far this year, accounting for about 6 percent of all Lexus sales.
