Summary Box: Microsoft’s seeks new gaming audience

KINECT FORE: Microsoft used the E3 video game expo to detail Kinect, a controller for the Xbox 360 game console that dispenses with a remote. It recognizers users’ gestures, so you can control on-screen action by moving your body.

THE DETAILS: Kinect is due to launch Nov. 4. Prices were not disclosed.

XBOX UPDATE: In the meantime Microsoft is releasing a new version of the Xbox console next week. It’s smaller, sleeker and comes with a 250 gigabyte hard drive. It will cost $299.
