I dispute this list because you have not included the JVC GY-HM100U. This camera has been purchased by BBC, majors news organizations throughout Asia, and other professionals. This camera is doing things no other camera is right now for this price point, but it’s not on your list?? Bad information here. |

This list seems dated. I’m surprised to see as many DV-only (standard definition) cameras as are listed here. Quality HD-capable cameras have displacing DV quickly and are doing so cheaply. Also, seriously lacking from the list are the offerings from camera makers using solid-state capture media including JVC’s GY-HM100 and Panasonic’s AG-HMC40 or AG-HMC150 all of which are available at under $3500. Now available at under $4000 and absent is the renowned JVC GY-HD110u is a highly capable HD camera with interchangeable lenses, variable native frame rate adjustment and a comprehensive control on color, contrast and gamma. I would love to see an update on this list that acknowledges these older and newer cameras suited for the enthusiast prosumer and just starting out professionals. Dave Burckhard |
