Toshiba has launched the Satellite L630, a sleek and portable laptop for young users. Its excellent 13.3″ diagonal TruBrite high resolution screen (1366×768-pixel resolution) and the light body make it a unique notebook. It’s perfect for those working in multimedia and graphics as it comes with an Intel Pentium Dual Core (2GHz) and ATI HD5145 discrete graphics card. This mobile notebook is designed for rugged environment as the wipeable keyboard and no gloss Dura-cross texture helps to clean the dust easily. Moreover, it is fingerprint resistant.

The 3D Hard Drive Impact Sensor protects the hard drive from any callous use of your notebook, especially while traveling on bumpy roads. The laptop is a gift for the rovers, as it’s able to power and charge USB devices even when the laptop is powered down. To be very precise, you can charge your phone with a USB charger on the move using your Satellite L630s battery, which promises a 4.6 hour runtime.

The other specifications include

  • Memory: 2GB DDR3 1066MHz SDRAM
  • OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit or 64-bit
  • Graphics: Onboard graphics
  • HDD: 250GB (SATA)
  • Ports: 2xUSB 2.0 ports, 1xUSB/eSATA combo port
  • Optical: 8X DVD writer, web camera

Though Toshiba Satellite L630 is an excellent machine for professionals and students; one thing that I don’t like is the sound quality of its built-in speaker. Toshiba really needs to take care of this issue if they are serious about getting into multimedia laptop segment. This light weight laptop weighs 2.2kg along with battery and is priced at about $619 in US and about Rs 36,869 in the Indian market with 1 year warranty.
