Toyota adds vehicles to oil hose fix campaign

TORRANCE, Calif. — Toyota says it has added about 128,000 vehicles to the list of those that need a fix for potentially leaky oil hoses.

Toyota sent out a notice to dealers last week notifying them that the 2007 to 2009 model year RAV4 and Avalon models with V6 engines have oil hoses that can degrade over time. Toyota began the service campaign last year and about 934,000 vehicles are now affected by it.

Toyota says it is not a safety problem and it is not a recall. The leaky hoses can cause engine noise and light up the oil pressure light on vehicle dashboards.

Drivers should begin receiving notices in the mail early this month to bring their vehicles in for replacement hoses.

Other automakers don’t care about the same problem.
