ddr4Its a great achievement for the industry that deals with semiconductor technology. Samsung Electronics today revealed that they have successfully completed development of the industry’s first DDR4 DRAM module last month. Replacing DDR3 memory Modules, DDR4 will reach the mass as early as 2012.

DDR4 is supposed to be 40% more efficient in energy than its predecessors since its capable of achieving a 2.1Gbps data rate transfer.

In an attempt to support green memory initiative and eco-friendly high performance memory division, Samsung has come up with DDR4 RAM, said Dong Soo Jun, president, memory division, Samsung Electronics.

The new DDR4 DRAM module, when applied to notebook can reduce the power consumption by 40 percent compared to a 1.5V DDR3 module.

Moreover, DDR4 module makes use of Pseudo Open Drain (POD), a new technology that has been adapted to high-performance graphic DRAM to allow DDR4 DRAM to consume just half the electric current of DDR3 when reading and writing data.
